Terms and Conditions

Effective Date: 29-10-2026     Last Updated: 29-10-2026

Please read these Terms and Conditions of Use (“Terms”) carefully before accessing or using the website located at https://themaplio.com/ (the “Website,” “Platform,” or “Site”). These Terms govern your access to and use of all content, features, and services made available by TheMaplio. By using the Website in the ways described in Section 1, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Acceptance of Terms

You accept these Terms when you affirmatively agree to them, for example by creating an account, submitting or claiming a business listing, or submitting a review or other content where the Website presents these Terms, or when you continue to use the Website after reasonable notice of them, to the extent permitted by law. These Terms are a legally binding agreement between you (“User” or “you”) and (“TheMaplio,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). We do not claim that merely viewing public pages creates a binding contract in every circumstance, but the provisions on intellectual property and prohibited conduct apply to all access to the extent the law allows.

These Terms include our Privacy Policy and any content guidelines or feature-specific terms we post. If a feature-specific term conflicts with these Terms on its subject, the feature-specific term controls.

If you do not agree to these Terms, you must stop using the Website. These Terms apply to all visitors, registered users, business owners, and any other persons who access or use the Website.

2. Description of Services

TheMaplio is an online local business directory and discovery platform that helps people find local businesses and professional services across the United States by location, industry, and category. The Website provides general information about businesses, such as contact details, categories, service areas, hours, descriptions, photographs, and customer reviews. The services we provide include, but are not limited to:

  • A searchable directory of local businesses and professional services, including lawyers, dentists, restaurants, gyms, auto repair, home care, movers, HVAC, cleaning, medical centers, real estate, and other services;

  • Business listing pages containing information submitted by business owners and Users or obtained from other lawful sources;

  • Customer reviews and ratings of listed businesses;

  • Forms to send an inquiry to a listed business or to report a listing; and

  • Tools for business owners to submit, claim, and manage listings, where available.

IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: TheMaplio is a directory and informational resource. It does NOT provide legal, medical, dental, financial, or other professional advice, opinions, or services, is not a law firm or healthcare provider, and does not practice any profession. All listings and content are provided for general informational and directory purposes only and are not a substitute for consulting a qualified, licensed professional. Results described on the Website do not guarantee a similar outcome.

Availability. The Website may experience maintenance, outages, delays, or errors, and we do not promise that it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may modify, restrict, suspend, or discontinue any feature, category, or location at any time, and will give reasonable notice where practicable for changes that materially affect business owners’ management of claimed listings.

3. No Professional Relationship

USE OF THIS WEBSITE DOES NOT CREATE AN ATTORNEY-CLIENT, DOCTOR-PATIENT, OR ANY OTHER PROFESSIONAL RELATIONSHIP. No such relationship is formed with TheMaplio, or by itself with any listed professional, by visiting or browsing the Website, submitting an inquiry, or contacting a business using information found here. A professional relationship exists only if and when the professional agrees to represent or treat you directly, under the applicable professional rules.

Messages you send through the Website may not be confidential or privileged. Do not send confidential or sensitive health or legal information through contact forms. The Website is not for emergencies; in an emergency, call 911 or your local emergency number.

Listing a professional is not a guarantee of expertise, quality, licensing, insurance, specialization, or outcome. You are responsible for independently verifying a professional’s credentials and standing with the relevant authority, such as a state bar or a state medical or dental board, before engaging them. The Website does not solicit clients where solicitation is prohibited, and TheMaplio does not recommend or refer particular professionals to individual users. This Section does not waive any right that applicable law does not allow to be waived.

4. User Responsibilities

By using TheMaplio, you agree to the following obligations and responsibilities.

4.1 Accuracy of Information

You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information in any registration, listing, review, inquiry, or other submission, and to update it promptly when it changes. You represent that what you submit is truthful and not misleading.

4.2 Eligibility and Lawful Use

You may use the Website only if you can form a binding contract and are at least 18 years old. The Website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. You agree to use the Website only for lawful purposes and in compliance with all applicable laws, including those on advertising, professional licensing, consumer protection, privacy, and intellectual property. If you act for a business, you represent that you are authorized to do so. The Website is directed to users in the United States.

4.3 Prohibited Conduct

You expressly agree not to:

  • Submit false, misleading, or fictitious business listings or information, impersonate any person or business, or state or imply professional qualifications you do not hold;

  • Make fraudulent or unauthorized claims to a business listing;

  • Post fake, paid-for, or manipulated reviews or ratings, or otherwise manipulate search rankings, ratings, or visibility;

  • Use bots, spiders, crawlers, scrapers, or other automated means to access the Website or to extract, copy, or harvest listings, reviews, contact details, or other data, or to build a competing database, without our prior written consent, except as applicable law allows;

  • Collect personal data about other Users or individuals shown on the Website without a lawful basis, or use contact details from the Website to send unsolicited bulk messages;

  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Website, accounts, servers, or networks, probe or scan for vulnerabilities without our written permission, or interfere with or disrupt the Website, including by denial-of-service attacks;

  • Transmit any virus, malware, spyware, or other harmful code, or send spam;

  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Website’s software, or circumvent any security or moderation measure;

  • Infringe any copyright, trademark, or other right; or

  • Use the Website for unlawful commercial activity or to post content that is defamatory, obscene, harassing, abusive, hateful, or discriminatory.

These restrictions do not apply to the extent applicable law prohibits them.

4.4 Intellectual Property Compliance

You agree to respect all intellectual property rights in the Website and its content, as described in Section 7.

4.5 Accounts and Account Security

Some features, such as submitting or managing a listing, may require an account . You are responsible for keeping your password confidential, for not sharing your credentials, and for activity under your account, except to the extent caused by our own breach of these Terms or the law. Tell us promptly at info@themaplio.com if you suspect unauthorized access. You may request deletion of your account by emailing info@themaplio.com . We will handle requests under applicable law and our Privacy Policy and may retain information needed to comply with law, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, or enforce these Terms. Deleting an account does not by itself remove a business listing or published review.

5. Business Listings, Claiming, and Advertising

TheMaplio hosts business listings as part of its directory service. Listings may be submitted by business owners, submitted by other Users where the Website allows, or created from information obtained from other lawful sources.

5.1 Submission and Publication

You may submit a business listing only for a business you own or are authorized to represent. You represent that all information you submit is accurate, current, lawful, and not misleading, including:

  • The business’s name, which must be the name it actually uses, and its address and service areas;

  • Telephone number, email, website, description, categories, and operating hours;

  • Photographs and logos, which must depict the business and which you must have the right to use; and

  • Any license, certification, specialty, or other professional credential, which you must actually hold.

If your business is in a regulated profession, you alone are responsible for complying with the advertising and disclosure rules that apply to you. You must not submit a fictitious or fraudulent listing, use a false or virtual address to misstate where a business operates, or add keywords to a business name to influence search. Each business location should have one listing, and we may merge or remove duplicates.

We may review, categorize, edit for format, reject, unpublish, or restrict any listing at any time, and we do not promise to review every submission before or after publication. Submitting a business does not guarantee that the listing will be published or remain published, or that it will receive any visibility, search ranking, traffic, inquiry, sale, or other result. To ask us to correct or remove a listing, email info@themaplio.com or use any report function on the listing page. We may ask for verification and will consider requests in good faith, but may decline where the information is accurate and lawfully published. We do not commit to a fixed response time.

5.2 Claiming a Listing

Where the Website offers it, a business owner may request management access to an existing listing through the claiming process . We may require evidence that you own or may act for the business, such as confirmation through a business email or phone number or registration or licensing documents, and we may approve, deny, or revoke a claim in our reasonable discretion .

You must not claim a listing for a business you do not own or represent. If several people claim a listing, or ownership is disputed, we may suspend management access while we review, request further evidence, decide who may manage the listing, or leave it unclaimed. Our decision concerns access to the Website only and does not decide legal ownership of any business. Management access may not be sold or transferred without our approval, and you must tell us promptly if your authority ends. We may correct or remove inaccurate information in a claimed listing and may revoke access for breach of these Terms or for legal or security reasons.

Claiming a listing gives you only the right to manage that listing’s information through the Website. It does not give you ownership of the Website, its database or compilation of listings, its design, software, or search and ranking functions, or of reviews and other content submitted by others.

5.3 Accuracy and Verification

Business information can change without notice and may be out of date. Business owners are responsible for the accuracy of what they submit. We may review, correct, restrict, or remove information, but we do NOT promise that every listing has been independently verified, is complete, or is continuously updated. General words such as “verified,” “trusted,” or “up to date” on the Website do not mean we have verified every detail, unless we expressly define a specific badge and its criteria .

The appearance of a business on the Website is not an endorsement, recommendation, or certification. USERS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR INDEPENDENTLY VERIFYING IMPORTANT DETAILS, SUCH AS LICENSING, INSURANCE, PRICING, AND QUALIFICATIONS, DIRECTLY WITH THE BUSINESS AND, WHERE RELEVANT, THE LICENSING AUTHORITY.

5.4 Featured Listings and Paid Services

Some listings display a “Featured” label. A Featured label does not mean that TheMaplio recommends, endorses, or has verified the business. Browsing the Website and submitting a basic listing are currently offered without charge.

If TheMaplio offers paid services now or later, the price, billing, renewal, cancellation, and refund terms will be shown before you buy and will form part of these Terms, and we will not charge you unless you have been clearly told the price and terms and have agreed to them. Whether or not you use paid services, we do not guarantee any leads, inquiries, customers, sales, or rankings.

5.5 Search Results and Rankings

The Website lets you search by category, location, and keyword, and states that results are sorted by proximity and relevance. Display order may also depend on other factors, such as listing completeness or a Featured label. Paid or sponsored placements, if any, will be identified. Results may be incomplete or out of date, may omit businesses, and may show approximate locations. We may change how search and ranking work at any time and do not guarantee that any business will appear, appear in any position, or receive any views, leads, or customers.

5.6 Independent Businesses

Listed businesses are generally independent third parties that TheMaplio does not own, operate, or control. Unless we say otherwise in writing, TheMaplio is not a party to any transaction between you and a listed business, is not the employer, partner, or agent of any listed business or professional, does not provide the services a listed business offers, and does not guarantee the quality, safety, legality, price, or availability of any listed business’s goods or services. Disputes about those services must generally be resolved with the business, subject to applicable law.

6. Reviews and User Content

6.1 Reviews and Ratings

Users may submit reviews and ratings based on their own genuine, first-hand experience with a listed business. A review must be your honest account of an actual experience and must not misrepresent your relationship to the business. The review form on the Website asks for a name, a star rating, and text, and says a review is published after approval. Display ratings are calculated based on ratings submitted by users. TheMaplio reserves the right to exclude or remove ratings that are reasonably suspected to be fake, misleading, manipulated, or in violation of our review guidelines. Ratings reflect individual user experiences and opinions and do not constitute a guarantee or endorsement of a business’s overall quality, reliability, or services.

6.2 Prohibited Review Conduct

You must not:

  • Submit a fake, fabricated, or purchased review or rating, or one by or for someone without the experience described;

  • Review your own business, or a business in which you or a relative, employee, agent, or partner has a material interest, or post a review of a competitor to harm it;

  • Offer, request, or accept payment, discounts, gifts, or other incentives for a review unless clearly and conspicuously disclosed in the review and not conditioned on its content or sentiment;

  • Threaten, pay, or pressure anyone to remove or withhold an honest review, or use legal threats to suppress truthful reviews;

  • Buy, sell, or generate reviews, ratings, or similar popularity indicators using bots, scripts, or networks of accounts; or

  • Post content that is defamatory, harassing, threatening, hateful, unlawful, spam, or unrelated to the business, that reveals another person’s private information, or that states as fact something you know to be false.

6.3 Moderation, Reporting, and Disputes

Nothing in these Terms prohibits or penalizes an honest, lawful review, and we claim no right to restrict such reviews, consistent with the Consumer Review Fairness Act (15 U.S.C. § 45b). We do not remove reviews solely because they are negative . We may review reviews before or after publication, apply these Terms and any content guidelines, and approve, format, decline, or remove them. Moderation does not mean that a reviewer’s identity, purchase, or experience has been verified, and we do not label reviews as verified purchases. Reviews reflect the views of reviewers, not TheMaplio .

To report a review or rating you believe is fake, manipulated, or in breach of these Terms, use the report function on the listing page or email info@themaplio.com with the listing URL and an explanation. A business owner who believes a review is inaccurate or unlawful may submit a dispute with supporting information. We may keep or remove the review or ask for more information, but we do not remove a review solely because a business owner disagrees with it and are not required to resolve disputes between reviewers and businesses . We may remove any review or rating that violates these Terms or the law or is subject to valid legal process.

6.4 User Content and License

“User Content” means anything a User submits, including business descriptions, photographs, logos, reviews, comments, and messages. You are solely responsible for your User Content and keep ownership of it. You represent that you own it or have all rights needed to submit it and grant the license below (including permission from any person depicted), and that it does not infringe or violate anyone’s rights or any law.

You grant TheMaplio a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, format, resize, display, and distribute your User Content on the Website and in connection with operating, providing, and promoting it, including in search results, previews, and our marketing and social channels. We may sublicense this only to service providers and affiliates acting for us for those purposes, and we will not use your User Content for other purposes without your permission. The license lasts while your User Content is on the Website and for the time reasonably needed afterward to remove it from backups, caches, and copies already distributed and to keep records the law requires. It is not perpetual or irrevocable.

You may ask us to remove your User Content by emailing info@themaplio.com, and we will consider requests under these Terms and the law. We may retain content where needed to prevent fraud, preserve platform integrity, comply with law, or resolve a dispute . We may remove or refuse to host any User Content. If you send us feedback, we may use it without obligation to you.

7. Intellectual Property Rights

7.1 Platform Materials

The name TheMaplio, its logo and branding, original text and graphics, software, design, and the structure, selection, and arrangement of its database and listings (“Platform Materials”) belong to TheMaplio or its licensors and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. Business names, trademarks, logos, photographs, and other content submitted by or belonging to listed businesses, Users, or other third parties remain their owners’ property, and their appearance on the Website implies no affiliation or endorsement.

You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Website for personal, non-commercial informational purposes, and business owners may use their own listing information for their own business. This license does not include the right to:

  • Copy, reproduce, republish, sell, or commercially exploit Platform Materials or a substantial part of our listings or database;

  • Use data mining, robots, or similar data-gathering tools;

  • Create derivative works from Platform Materials;

  • Frame or mirror any part of the Website; or

  • Remove proprietary notices.

TheMaplio reserves all rights not expressly granted in these Terms.

7.2 Copyright Complaints (DMCA)

We respond to notices of alleged copyright infringement that comply with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, 17 U.S.C. § 512 (the “DMCA”).

A notice must be in writing and include: (a) the signature of the copyright owner or an authorized person; (b) identification of the copyrighted work; (c) identification of the allegedly infringing material and its URL on the Website; (d) your name, address, phone, and email; (e) a statement of your good-faith belief that the use is not authorized by the owner, its agent, or the law; and (f) a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the notice is accurate and you are authorized to act for the owner. Knowingly misrepresenting infringement may create liability under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f). On receiving a compliant notice we may remove or disable the material and will make reasonable efforts to notify the User who submitted it.

If you believe material was removed by mistake or misidentification, you may send a written counter-notice to our designated agent with: (a) your signature; (b) identification of the removed material and where it appeared; (c) a statement under penalty of perjury of your good-faith belief it was removed by mistake or misidentification; and (d) your name, address, and phone, consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for your address (or, outside the United States, any district where we may be found), and agreement to accept service of process from the person who filed the notice. We will send a copy to the complainant and may restore the material in not less than 10 and not more than 14 business days unless the complainant tells us it has filed a court action. In appropriate circumstances we will terminate the accounts of repeat infringers. Other intellectual property complaints may be sent to info@themaplio.com.

8. Third-Party Links and External Services

The Website may link to or connect with third-party websites and services, such as a listed business’s own website, booking or scheduling tools, messaging and social media services, mapping services, and payment gateways, if applicable. These are provided as a convenience and are not an endorsement. TheMaplio does not own or control them and is not responsible for their content, availability, privacy practices, or terms, which you should read. Your dealings with them are at your own risk and are between you and the third party. This does not limit any responsibility we have under applicable law for our own conduct.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED UNDER APPLICABLE LAW, THE WEBSITE AND ALL CONTENT, INFORMATION, AND SERVICES PROVIDED THROUGH THEMAPLIO ARE PROVIDED ON AN “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” BASIS, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. THEMAPLIO DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING:

  • IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT;

  • WARRANTIES THAT THE WEBSITE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, TIMELY, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE;

  • WARRANTIES AS TO THE ACCURACY, COMPLETENESS, OR CURRENCY OF ANY LISTING, REVIEW, RATING, OR SEARCH OR DISCOVERY RESULT;

  • WARRANTIES REGARDING THE CONDUCT, QUALIFICATIONS, LICENSING, PRICES, OR QUALITY OF ANY LISTED BUSINESS OR USER, OR THE TRUTHFULNESS OF USER CONTENT; AND

  • WARRANTIES THAT ANY BUSINESS OR PROFESSIONAL FOUND THROUGH THE WEBSITE WILL ACHIEVE ANY PARTICULAR OUTCOME OR RESULT.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions, so some of the above may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms excludes any warranty, right, or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded.

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THEMAPLIO AND ITS AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AND SERVICE PROVIDERS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, GOODWILL, OR DATA, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE WEBSITE. WITHOUT LIMITING THE FOREGOING, THEMAPLIO IS NOT LIABLE FOR:

  • ERRORS, OMISSIONS, OR INACCURACIES IN ANY LISTING, REVIEW, OR OTHER INFORMATION SUBMITTED BY USERS OR LISTED BUSINESSES;

  • ANY TRANSACTION, COMMUNICATION, OR DISPUTE BETWEEN YOU AND A LISTED BUSINESS OR ANOTHER USER, OR THE CONDUCT OF ANY THIRD PARTY;

  • ANY INTERRUPTION, SUSPENSION, OR DISCONTINUATION OF THE WEBSITE OR ANY FEATURE;

  • UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS TO OR ALTERATION OF YOUR DATA, EXCEPT TO THE EXTENT CAUSED BY OUR FAILURE TO MEET OUR LEGAL OBLIGATIONS; OR

  • ANY OUTCOME ARISING FROM YOUR ENGAGING OR NOT ENGAGING ANY BUSINESS OR PROFESSIONAL FOUND THROUGH THE WEBSITE.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability for fraud, gross negligence, or willful misconduct, or any liability that cannot lawfully be limited. Some jurisdictions do not allow limits on incidental or consequential damages, so the above may not apply to you in full.

11. Indemnification

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless TheMaplio and its affiliates, officers, employees, and service providers from third-party claims, and resulting losses and reasonable attorneys’ fees, to the extent arising from:

  • Your breach of these Terms or violation of applicable law;

  • Your unlawful or infringing User Content, or your infringement of any intellectual property or other right;

  • A fraudulent, false, or unauthorized business submission, claim, or review that you made; or

  • Your misuse of the Website.

You need not indemnify TheMaplio to the extent a claim results from TheMaplio’s own negligence, breach of these Terms, or unlawful conduct. We will give you reasonable notice of a claim, you will cooperate in the defense, we may take part with our own counsel at our expense, and you may not settle a claim in a way that binds TheMaplio without our written consent.

12. Privacy Policy

Your use of the Website is also governed by our Privacy Policy , which describes how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information. These Terms do not repeat it. If these Terms conflict with the Privacy Policy on data privacy matters, the Privacy Policy governs.

Information in business listings and reviews, including a reviewer’s name, may be displayed publicly, so do not post others’ personal information without the right to share it. If you use a contact or message form on a listing, you authorize us to pass the information you provide (such as your name, email, phone number, and message) to that business and to use it to operate the Website. The business’s handling of that information is governed by its own policies.

Depending on where you live, state privacy laws may give you rights over your personal information, which will be described in the Privacy Policy. We use measures we consider reasonable to protect the Website, but no system is completely secure and we do not guarantee the security of information. We will send marketing communications only as the law and your choices allow.

13. Suspension, Removal, and Termination

TheMaplio may suspend or restrict access, remove or unpublish listings or User Content (including reviews), investigate abuse, or terminate an account where we reasonably believe that:

  • You breached these Terms or a posted policy, or violated applicable law;

  • You submitted false, fraudulent, or unauthorized information or claims;

  • Your activity creates a security, legal, or reputational risk to the Website, Users, or others;

  • Content is infringing or unlawful, or we have received a valid legal request or court order; or

  • An account or listing appears abandoned, duplicated, or compromised.

Where practicable and lawful, and unless it would compromise security, an investigation, or legal compliance, we will tell the affected User what action we took and generally why. You may ask us to review the decision by emailing info@themaplio.com. We will consider your request in good faith but keep final discretion. You may stop using the Website at any time. On termination your right to use the Website ends, and we may delete or retain account data and User Content in line with the Privacy Policy and applicable law . Provisions that by their nature should survive termination, including those on intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and governing law, will survive. We may report suspected unlawful activity to law enforcement and cooperate with any investigation.

14. Modifications to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time by posting the updated Terms with a revised “Last Updated” date. For material changes we will make reasonable efforts to tell you, for example through a prominent notice on the Website or by email to registered Users. We have not set a fixed notice period. Updated Terms take effect when posted or on a later date they state and, to the extent permitted by law, do not apply retroactively to claims that arose before then. If you keep using the Website after the effective date, you accept the updated Terms; if you disagree, stop using it and close your account. The current Terms are available on the Website.

15. General Provisions

If a provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, it will be enforced to the extent allowed and the rest remain in effect. These Terms, the Privacy Policy, and any additional terms referred to in them are the entire agreement between you and TheMaplio about the Website and replace earlier understandings on the subject. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver, and a waiver is effective only in writing. You may not assign these Terms without our written consent, and we may assign them in a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets, or by operation of law. Headings are for convenience only, “including” means “including without limitation,” and these Terms are not construed against either party as drafter. You consent to receive notices electronically, including by posting on the Website or by email.
